Bill Stone was most recently the Chief Investment Officer of Stone Investment Partners LLC, an investment firm serving both individual and institutional investors. He applied his expertise in designing multi-asset class portfolios using active, passive and factor investing to help clients reach their objectives while being cognizant of both cost and risk.
Previously, Bill was Chief Investment Officer of a large, registered investment advisor, Avalon Advisors. As a member of the executive team, he helped manage the firm on a day-to-day basis while assets under management grew 21 percent by enhancing the advisory capabilities. He established a state-of-the-art open architecture platform, alternative investment platform, due diligence process, financial planning and robust risk management at the firm.
He served as PNC Asset Management Group's global Chief Investment Strategist. Bill led a team of analysts who analyzed the factors influencing the direction of global economies and financial markets. With over $140 billion in assets under management, he served as a primary driver of asset allocation and model portfolio construction for high net worth individual, family office and institutional investors. Before joining PNC, he was Chief Investment Officer at First Western Trust. He started his career on Wall Street as a financial analyst with Salomon Brothers.
He is a popular public speaker and has presented at numerous U.S. and international conferences. He has often appeared on U.S. and international TV and radio as well as in print media to share his keen insights into the global financial markets. His expertise has been featured on ABC, Bloomberg, Bloomberg Asia, CNBC, CNBC Asia, Fox Business, and NHK World. He has been quoted extensively in the financial press, including The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg News, Barron’s, USA Today, and The New York Times.
He is a cum laude and honor's program graduate of the University of Dayton with a degree in finance. He earned an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations.
